TAPROOT Drummer Says Band Is Done Writing Material For New Album
July 30, 2004TAPROOT drummer Jarrod Montague has posted the following update on the group's official web site:
"There isn't MUCH new news to tell, but I'll get you up to speed instead of answering questions here and there on all the different forums. So we believe that we are just about done writing material for the album. We wrote a new kind of straight-forward hard rock song and a very heavy one which we're calling 'Face Peeler' right now. [Singer] Steve [Richards] is still writing some different ideas for the tunes, but they're really cool songs.
"We'll be starting official pre production in August and hope to being recording in September sometime. Unfortunately for you guys, this means the record won't be coming out until Spring 2005 most likely and won't be touring until a couple of months before that. As I said before, we can't wait to get back out on the road. We've been starting to play all the songs that are in contention for the record (about 18-20 out of around 80) and that alone feels good. I feel like a band again. When we're writing, it's more like you're just in a room with 3 other people and everyone is talking about something different and you're all trying to figure out a topic to talk about and make a great 4-way conversation out of it. But when you play the songs together, you're all talking about the same stuff all the time. I'm getting excited again.
"We've still been working with [producer] Toby Wright when he has the time and he'll be with us full time once we start pre production. He's the coolest."
